About the Founder
Katina Bernice Dickson, is the founder and CEO of Courageous Healing. Her extensive educational background in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Urban Education, and Community Counseling from Norfolk State University has equipped her with the clinical expertise and community awareness necessary to lead with clarity and purpose.
At Courageous Healing we go beyond providing services and we create transformative spaces for restoration and healing.
Throughout her career, she has developed strategic partnerships across multiple sectors to ensure their programs address the root causes of trauma and systemic injustice. Every initiative she leads is informed by rigorous research, data analysis, and most importantly the lived experiences and voices of those they serve.
Her work extends beyond organizational boundaries. She has advised international students through Study Abroad 4711, advanced disability support programs with Norfolk State University alumni, and shaped transitional housing services for veterans through CANLINK. In each of these roles, her focus remains consistent, including building systems that dignify and empower rather than marginalize.
She has advocated before the General Assembly for equitable funding for individuals with disabilities and veterans not as a political gesture, but as a moral imperative. These efforts reflect both her leadership philosophy and her deep conviction that healing is a fundamental human right. As a mother, advocate, and Black woman leading a healing movement, she brings the collective stories of her community into every space she enters. She understands the weight of being unseen and the transformative power of being heard.
This understanding drives Courageous Healing's mission: to create new narratives rooted in dignity, resilience, and restoration. She is honored to advance this work and collaborate with leaders who share a commitment to collective healing.
